More magazine and Wilhelmina modeling agency hold a modeling contest/search every year that features the most beautiful and charismatic women...that just happen to be over 40.
The top 10 finalists are chosen from thousands of applicants and recieve a trip to New York to compete in the beauty pageant-like finals competition. They are judged on their personality (25%), photogenic appearance (50%), and their interaction with the judges (25%).
The winner, runner-up, and 2nd runner-up all recieve Wilhelmina modeling contracts. The winner also recieves a $15,000 Wilhelmina modeling contract, a 2 week vacation, a Glamorous magazine photo shoot, a designer dress by Carmen Marc Valvo (go figure!), and a whole bunch more.

This is all in celebration of women over the age of 40 (that you couldnt tell were over 40 if it wasnt for the title). So who better to host the finals competition than the ageless beauty herself, Angela "Black dont crack, honey. Do you see a wrinkle?" Bassett. Ms. "I refuse to age" (she didnt actually say that, but shes got to be thinking it) is going to host the 7th annual competition in New York on Feb. 27th. More on this story when it comes.
Whats That Got To Do With It?:
(Random News!)
- The much anticipated Toussaint film about the Haitian Revolution (starring Don Cheadle, Wesley Snipes, Mos Def, and Angela Bassett) has been re-scheduled to begin filming Oct/Dec. 2007 [source]
- Angie is a spokesperson for National Black HIV/AIDS awareness day (it was Feb. 7th, dag I missed it!). No matter though, we can still see and hear her PSAs in support of the cause. [source]
I hope "Toussaint" doesn't get pushed back any further. I'm eagerly awaiting what could be a truly great film!
